Boasting views towards the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Canal, this design for a Novotel features an L-shape massing, partly informed by the client’s requirements and the plot dimensions. Considering the challenging triangular shape of the plot, the lobby space planning was designed as an organic form, starting from the entrance as a funnel, wide at the lobby entrance, and narrowing as it eventually swerves and connects to the meeting and conference room zone.

An L-shape floor plate was conceived as the ideal form for the building. Responding to the client’s requirement for minimal curtain walls, the facade design features a composition of randomly placed lime stone panels, visually stabilized by a strong expression of horizontal stone slabs of varying rhythms and thicknesses. Curtain walls were strategically placed at certain corners, where they appear to slip behind the stone cladding. . Upper floors contain furnished apartments while the first floor features a podium with a swimming pool, gym, tennis courts and cascading landscaping.
