Focusing on interior design and furniture stores, this niche retail, and F&B project is located on Umm Suqeim Road, Dubai. The client requested an iconic building that would attract customers from nearby and further afield; Lacasa strove to create a unique design that differed from other retail experiences in Dubai. Our designers devised a contemporary museum-quality language, made up of glass, stone and aluminum cladding.
The massing was streamlined, with a blank wall for an LED media screen to display advertising and a simple roof with cut-outs. Furniture design was used as a concept, with the building ‘wrapped’ like upholstery on an item of furniture. The façade’s only area of glass is used to demark the office of the client, housed in the same building. Architectural flourishes are concentrated around the entrance areas; visitors are drawn in by eye-catching fragmented structures made from steel and lightweight aluminum louvers. Entrances open onto triple-height lobbies, with fluid internal circulation routes to encourage a voyage of discovery around attractive, extensively landscaped interiors.
